Plans are afoot to introduce more dropped kerbs in Tenby.
Correspondence from Pembrokeshire County Council’s access officer, Alan Hunt, came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night, outlining proposals to provide more dropped kerb sections and improve flush kerbs in areas of South Cliff Street, South Parade, St. Florence Parade and Lower Frog Street.
Mr. Hunt was asked by Clr. Mike Evans and Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas to look at improvements in the town, and recently conducted a ‘walkabout’ with local councillors and mobility scooter user, Mrs. Maureen Ward, to pinpoint areas where additional dropped kerbs could be installed.
The walkabout also looked at other issues that restrict access for those with mobility problems and parents with prams, including A-frames and illegal parking on pavements.
“It’s nice to see something happening for the benefit of the disadvantaged,” commented Clr. Trevor Hallett.
