Work to improve pedestrian safety and access along a busy Tenby road that features primary and secondary schools is underway.
The scheme also realigns the driveway into Greenhill School to allow for an additional full-size rugby pitch on their campus.
This involves moving the road into the area created by the demolition of the infants’ school; the creation of a roundabout and pedestrian crossing at the end of Serpentine Road; demolition of the caretaker’s bungalow; and re-alignment of the playing fields.
Two full-sized pitches and a running track are also being provided.
The lower pitch is to have minimal alterations, whilst the top pitch requires the removal of the existing access road and trees, plus ground levels altered.
Works have commenced during the summer holiday period, with the aim to reduce conflict with construction works and school operation, said a spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council.
