Local councillors are set to meet with Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet member for housing at a future date to discuss proposals for a site situated off Narberth Road in Tenby, which has been earmarked for a social housing scheme.
At a recent meeting of full council at County Hall in Haverfordwest, Clr. Pat Davies, PCC’s cabinet member for housing and regulatory services, underlined how the authority was ‘totally committed’ to building new homes on the 15.7 acre land at Brynhir, reaffirming the ‘need in Tenby’ and across Pembrokeshire for ‘good quality affordable homes’.
“We will look at Brynhir in Tenby and other parcels of land across the county with a view to developing Pembrokeshire’s housing scheme further,” said Clr. Davies.
Following discussions by members of the town council, who said that they would welcome discussions with Clr. Davies at a future meeting, the town clerk, Andrew Davies, told councillors that he had received correspondence in return, stating that a meeting would be more likely once more definite costings and a timeline for the proposed development was in the frame.
“We are only in the early stages of a programme of development for the Brynhir site,” said Clr. Davies.
“We are instructing the Valuation Office for a current valuation of the site and we need to have discussions as to what development can take place realistically at Brynhir. Of course, Tenby Town Council will need to be part of those discussions.”
Clr. Laurence Blackhall emphasised that he hoped the discussions would take place ‘sooner rather than later’.
