Onlookers to Tenby's harbour area and beaches must have thought that pirates had sailed in on Tuesday, as the privately owned barquentine 'Pelican of London' anchored itself off Tenby en route between Weymouth and Bristol.

'Pelican of London' has been described as the ultimate pirate ship. Her rig (masts and sails) is based on the Barbary Coast Xebec, the most successful pirate ship of the Mediterranean for 200 years.

This image of the barquentine was captured by Tenby skipper John Blair from his mackerel charter boat 'Summertime'.
