A young woman who is certainly making a name for herself in the world of photography is Joann Randles.

Daughter of Peter and Lyndy Randles, of Saundersfoot, Joann is currently based in Swansea, where she works as a freelancer.

“Ninety-nine per cent of my life is spent accompanied by a camera.” she says. “Telling stories though a lens is my passion.”

And her obvious talents have already been recognised, for in January this year she won the Evening Standard ‘Brilliantly British’ photography competition.

“It was a total surprise, but encouraged me to take the next step with my photography and turn professional as a commercial and press photographer,” said Joann. “Now I am an accredited UK press photographer and member of the British Press Photographers Association.”

Furthermore, her images are regularly published in national and international media outlets, while recently one of her photographs was exhibited at the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

“It was a portrait of open water swimmers ‘Rother Bobbers’ which was taken at sunrise in November last year,” said Joann. “I was actually in the sea with the ladies when I captured the image.”

“It was a great honour to have it exhibited and I was delighted that the ladies of the swimming group were able to come and see it with me on the first day of the exhibition.”
