Perfect conditions greeted the first annual Andrew Price/Tenby Round Table Spring Sevens. Thirty-six teams from around the county and as a far as Cardiff, Newport, Carmarthen, Caerphilly and Merthyr Tydfil, battled for the trophies in three age groups, Under 8s, 10s and 12s. The format was two pools of six teams in each age group, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals and the winners of these contesting the finals. After all the pool games had been played the four teams through to the Under 8s semi-final were Clarbeston Road, Kilgetty, Tenby '8' and Malpas (Newport). The first semi game saw Tenby '8' beat Malpas by two goals to one, while the second semi was won by Clarbeston Road, who beat Kilgetty. The exciting and close final was won by Tenby '8' by three goals to two. Nothing could separate the teams after normal time or even after five minutes golden goal extra time, so the 'player reduction system' was used. This is where a player from each side is taken off every two minutes until a goal is scored and thus eliminates the agony of the penalty shoot out. The player of the final, picked by the referee, was Tenby's, Max Brindley. The Under 10s tournament was equally as exciting, with Tenby '10', Hundleton 'A' Kilgetty and the Bristol Rovers Development team from Caerphilly, all progressing to the semi-finals. The first semi was between Tenby '10' and Hundleton 'A,' which saw the Tenby team win 2-0. The second semi saw Kilgetty beat favourites Bristol Rovers Development in a very good game. The final of this group was won by Kilgetty, who just edged Tenby by a single goal. The player of this final was Kurtis Marsh, of Kilgetty. Both the Under 12s semi-finals were very close and any two of the four teams could have gone through. However, Tenby '12' and Lamphey both edged out Pentrebach (Merthyr Tydfil) and Tenby '11A' 1-0 respectfully. This final, however, was the closest of the day, as each side were reduced to four out field players, under the player reduction system, before an eventual winner emerged. Lamphey won by a solitary goal and the player of the final was Jacob Dent, of Tenby. All the trophies, which were sponsored by Andrew Price, were presented to the winners, runners-up and player-of-the-final by Ray Davies, chairman of the Tenby Round Table. However, no tournament can commence without referees and the Round Table are very grateful to Gavin Scotcher, Alun Morgan, Daryl Mansbridge, Sonny Phillips, Toby Smith, James Howes, Nicky Rees, Bobby Briers, Richard Bridges, Sean Jenkins, Dylan Lawrence and Ashley Andrews, all members of Tenby AFC.
