The May meeting opened with the office lead by Mary Ball. At a brief business meeting, the following future events were announced - the Diocesan Council meeting at Laugharne and Women in Wales Day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
The speaker for the afternoon was PCSO Mandy Goodland (Police Community Support Officer), who was accompanied by police officer Trish Dixon, Neighbourhood Policing Officer.
Mandy, based at Tenby Police Station, looks after community issues and quality of life issues in various parts of the area, including Penally.
She gave members very valuable advice on avoiding being victims of crime, namely car burglaries, bogus callers and how to deal with them, protecting your home and possessions, the new non-urgent telephone number for the police, 101, and also gave details of the Bobby Van scheme.
She was particularly interested in re-introducing the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and invited members to attend the meetings held at Augustus Place, Tenby, on the first Wednesday of every month.
All these points resulted in a lively discussion among members who thoroughly appreciated this talk.
The afternoon was rounded off with tea and biscuits provided by Dorothy Durdin.
