Tenby and County Club (sponsored by LG Leisure and Get Stuffed Pizza Co) played away to Black Rabbit B on Monday evening and were 3-2 winners.
With all the Tenby players keen to keep their pre-Christmas form going, the first frame saw Dave Wooles take on B. Powney. Dave started cautiously, but was playing steadily and by the colours had built up a narrow seven-point lead.
As the game came to the pink, however, he was only three points up, and unluckily then went in off to turn the game in his opponent's favour.
Nevertheless, Dave dug deep and, needing pink and black to win, he got them both to put Tenby one frame up.
The second frame saw Steve Cook play D. Lewis. Steve has been in scintillating form of late and this match was no exception, again winning comfortably to take Tenby two ahead.
The third frame saw Kevin James take on Mike Roberts. Kevin had been out of sorts before Christmas and was keen to start the new year well, but as the game progressed, he started to show some nerves.
Although he was playing very well in patches, his opponent was matching him in a very close contest, which not suprisingly went all the way to the black ball - which Kevin was unlucky to leave over the pocket for his opponent.
The fourth frame saw Mark Cleevely take on M. Broxton. Mark started well, but was soon making uncharacteristic errors, and as the frame progressed, was not showing signs of his true ability. Indeed, with only the colours remaining, it was still neck and neck, and it was his opponent who eventually came out on top, potting the final black to win and level the match at 2-2.
The last frame saw captain Glyn Davies take on E. Power. Glyn needed his good form to continue, if Tenby were to stay unbeaten, and he didn't disappoint, potting some excellent long shots and playing good safety, to win comfortably, and make the final score Tenby 3 Black Rabbit 2.
