At the Pembrokeshire Aviation Group's January meeting, Mike Bennett, of Nolton, gave an excellent talk on the history of the Pembrokeshire radar stations. During the Second World War, a chain of radar stations was built around the British Isles for defence against enemy aircraft. In Pembrokeshire, stations included Strumble Head, Hayscastle, Folly Cross and St. Twynnells, along with other smaller sites. Mike's researches had brought together a large selection of photographs and maps detailing the location and fascinating history of these stations. The next meeting will be held at Withybush Aerodrome on Tuesday, February 12, at 7.30 pm, when the speaker will be John Ross-Skedd, who served on 84 Squadron which operated Beverley transports in Aden. Members' attention was brought to a petition for the erection of a memorial in London to honour the crews of Bomber Command in World War Two.
