The team at holidaycottages.co.uk have revealed the UK’s happiest staycation breaks for families - with Pembrokeshire coming in second, behind the Isle Of Wight.
The data comes from a wider 12,000-person survey on holiday happiness as the staycation experts celebrate the joys of a UK getaway.
When it comes to the UK destinations putting a smile on families’ faces, the Isle of Wight took the crown as the UK’s best family destinations for families with a rating of 12.2 out of 15 for family friendliness, followed by Pembrokeshire (11.8) and Hampshire (11.6).
In giving a rundown on why Pembrokeshire made the list, holidaycottages.co.uk stated: “The Welsh haven of Pembrokeshire is well known for having some of the most stunning countryside and coastal scenery in the UK, but it’s also a top choice for one of the UK’s happiest family-friendly staycation destinations.
“Family farms offer a great way for children to get up close with farm animals without getting their boots too dirty, and Folly Farm is one of the county’s best for this, as well as being home to some more exotic species like lions and penguins.
“History lovers can also look to step back in time with a visit to Pembroke Castle, where a number of educational events take place throughout the summer season, from falconry displays to historical reenactments.
“For those who find serenity by the sea, whether cooling down with a locally sourced ice cream or becoming a sandcastle architect.
“Tenby, with its Blue Flag beaches, is perfect for sandcastle building, paddling, or simply enjoying a locally sourced ice cream. End the day with fish and chips while going over the day’s adventures.”
