SPRING SERIES
Pembroke Haven Yacht Club has just completed the 2013 Spring Series of cruiser racing where the points from three out of four races counted towards the final result which was: 1. 'Leonore' (Alan Pritchard); 2. 'Maverick' (Rene Koomen); 3. 'Verglas' (Peter Clark).
The series culminated in The Pursuit race which attracted 10 entries. After two-and-a-half hours, 'Trissie' and 'Maelstrom' rounded the last mark together and after a battle for the line, 'Trissie' (Bob Blacksell - Neyland YC) took first place, with 'Maelstrom' (Doug McIntosh - PHYC) a close second. 'Maverick' (Rene Koomen - PHYC) finished third.
RNLI RACE
The club held their RNLI Race recently whereby proceeds from the entries went to the RNLI. There were 10 entries on the day and the race was won by 'Maelstrom' (Doug MacIntosh PHYC), second was 'Enigmatic' (Dave Yeoman - PHYC) and third 'Starlight Express' (Roy Gwilym - Neyland Yacht Club).
Many thanks to Rob Murton (sailing captain), Dennis Mitchell (starting deck) and Paul Martin for the excellent BBQ after the race, which was enjoyed by all.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Tenby Passage Race, starting from Hobbs Point, Pembroke Dock, at 10 am. The return leg is on Sunday.
