AN interesting interlude occurred within Saundersfoot Historical Society recently (writes D. T. H.).
The acquisition of a collection of paintings was presented to the society by Mrs. Shenton, a resident of Portsmouth, born in Saundersfoot in the early '30s.
At a meeting over coffee at St. Brides Hotel, Mrs. Shenton revealed to the society committee how the paintings came into being.
It seems that her aunt, who resided in the Glen during this early period, was frequented by a group of amateur artists during summer seasons, testing their skills on the Saundersfoot coastline of that period.
The society will endeavour to find a suitable venue for these early paintings and providing access for local residents and holidaymakers.
The society is very grateful to Mrs. Shenton for her generosity and thoughtfulness, which over the years will no doubt be much appreciated by the residents of her former home village of Saundersfoot.
