A local police constable has undertaken an investigation in his own back garden this week.
PC Mike Smith was letting his dog out at about 3 am on Wednesday morning when he heard a disturbance in his pond!
PC Smith, who lives in New Road, Begelly, went to investigate and much to his surprise saw "two lovely black eyes" looking at him from the water.
"It was an otter looking up at me whilst doing the back stroke," PC Smith smiled.
"It has completely cleaned the pond out of fish," he said.
"Over the last 10 years my pond has been raided of carp and goldfish seven times and I had always blamed domestic cats and herons, but now I know the real culprit," he added.
