A flypast will take place at Carew this Friday in a once-in-a lifetime event.

The Carew Cheriton Control Tower Group has a strong link with the USA military based in the UK because of the memorials dedicated to US troops based in Pembrokeshire in 1943/4, preparing for the D Day landings.

A United States Air Force plane was scheduled to fly past the Open Day event on August 5. but the bad weather prevented it. The dedication of a new memorial did take place on August 5 with US personnel present.

The flypast has now been rescheduled for 1pm on Friday, September 22. It will consist of a large four-engined United States Air Force military aircraft, to be followed by an RAF Hawk aircraft.

The Control Tower will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm, with no entry charge. Refreshments will be available.

The Group is hoping that as many as possible of local children will be able to witness this once-in-a lifetime event.
