Local Member of Parliament, Henry Tufnell, who has been advocating for improvements to the delivery of primary care services over the last several months, and for best practice to be established across Pembrokeshire, has given an update on matters.
In a meeting between the MP and the Chief Executive of Hywel Dda Health Board, Professor Phillip Kloer at Withybush Hospital held on May 13, it was agreed that best practice should be established across all local GP surgeries.
This progress follows months of advocacy from the MP for Mid and South Pembrokeshire, who has presented vital community feedback through a recent survey he conducted.
Tufnell announced that the Health Board will now begin reviewing necessary improvements in GP services over the next few months.
“After a constructive meeting with Professor Kloer, I am pleased that we are both on the same page and recognise the need for real action in response to the needs of our community,” he said.
“For months now, I have raised the need for improvements, and thanks to the powerful feedback from my recent survey, we are on the right path to establishing best practices that will benefit everyone across Pembrokeshire. We must finally see an end to the postcode lottery of accessing primary care.”
Tufnell is scheduled to meet with Professor Kloer later in the summer to assess the ongoing improvements and to ensure changes are being implemented effectively.
"I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to complete my survey on GP services," he continued.
"Your input is making a real difference, and together, we can continue to improve the healthcare services that are so vital to our community."
The Labour MP is also conducting a survey on access to NHS dental services, urging residents to provide their feedback to help shape future improvements.
