MRS. R. E. LEWIS
KILGETTY
The funeral took place on Saturday, October 11, at Sardis Congregational Church of Mrs. Ruby Elvina Lewis, who passed away peacefully at her home of Hollymead, 11 Ash Park, Kilgetty, on October 5. She was 80.
A native of The Vineyard, Valley Road, Saundersfoot, on leaving Greenhill Grammar School, Ruby started work in the office at the Co-op in Kilgetty.
She also worked in the office of Lloyd and Mathews the ironmongers, Boots Chemist and John Bedford the opticians, all in Tenby.
While working at the Co-op, she met and married her first husband Dennis Owen who passed away seven years ago.
Ruby married her second husband Vincent Lewis five years ago.
Her main interests were her home and her extended family. She was secretary of Sardis Congregational Church for 19 years and registrar for 25 years.
Ruby also had a great love for cats of which she had kept many during her lifetime.
She leaves to mourn: Vincent (husband); Jan and Dave (sister and brother-in-law); Molly (sister-in-law); Denis (brother-in-law); Walter and Rachael (brother-in-law and partner); Elma and Mel (sister-in-law and brother-in-law); Nancy (sister-in-law); Doreen (aunty); Kevin and Angie, Andrew and Carol, David and Judy, Brian and Janet (nephews and wives); Eileen and Mandy (nieces); Rose and Stuart, Elizabeth and Tony (nieces and husbands); Martin (nephew); Kirsty, Sara, Laura, Holly, Joann, Victoria and Becky (great nieces); Doreen (sister-in-law); Kevin (nephew); Julie (niece).
A service of celebration took place at Sardis Congregational Church on October 11, conducted by Rev. Hywel Brown and Rev. Norman.
The hymns, 'In Heavenly Love Abiding' and 'The Light Of The Morning Is Breaking' were accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Elizabeth Treharne.
Bearers were Kevin Jones, Andrew Jones, Stuart Evans, Brian Slate, Daniel Treharne and Mike Worcester.
Principal mourners were Vincent, Jan and Dave, Molly, Walter and Rachael, Elma and Mel, Nancy, Doreen, Kevin and Angie, Andrew and Carol, David and Judy, Eileen, Brian and Janet, Rose and Stuart, Elizabeth and Tony, Mandy, Martin, Kirsty, Sara and Dave, Laura, Holly, Joann, Victoria, Becky and many cousins too numerous to mention.
Unable to attend was Mr. Denis Perks (brother-in-law), Lewis Griffiths (nephew in New Zealand), Doreen, Kevin and Julia (in Australia).
Flowers for the church were given by the members and friends of Sardis Congregational Church.

MRS. F. L. HOWELLS, NARBERTH
(formerly of Kilgetty)
The funeral took place recently at St. Jeffrey and St. Oswald Church, Jeffreyston, of Mrs. Frances Lilian Howells, formerly of Broadmoor, who passed away at Sunnybank Residential Home, Narberth, on October 1. She was 98.
A native of Seven Oaks in Kent, Frances spent her early working life in service in Kent, then at the outbreak of World War II, joined WRAF. Her last base was at Carew Cheriton where she attained the rank of Sergeant.
After her marriage to Wallace Howells in April 1945, she became a housewife.
Frances was a member of Jeffreyston Parish Church and the Mothers' Union, while her late husband Wallace was organist at the church for 50 years.
She enjoyed knitting and listening to talking books for the blind and Pembroke Talking Newspapers (Tenby Observer and Western Telegraph).
Predeceased by her husband Wallace Eaton Howells, she is survived by David and Sheila Howells (nephew and niece), Lilian Howells (niece), Richard, Maureen, Liam, Evan and Connor Howells (great-nephew and family), Catherine, David, Lowri and Joe Ellcock (great-niece and family), Kay Howells and Rhys Jones (great-niece and partner).
The funeral service at St. Jeffrey and St. Oswald Church in Jeffreyston, conducted by Father Paul Davies and Rev. David Faulkner, with organist Mrs. Eileen Williams, was followed by burial in the churchyard.
Bearers were Paul Hay, John Jones, Arthur Evans and Stewart Treharne.
Principal mourners were: David and Sheila Howells (nephew and niece), Catherine, Lowri and Joe Ellcock, Kay Howells and Rhys Jones.
Unable to attend were Richard and Maureen Howells (Boston, USA), David Ellcock (great-nephew) and Lilian Howells (niece).

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday, October 16, at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, of Mrs. Christine Thomas, aged 55 years, of Mayfield, Tavernspite.

The death occurred peacefully on Friday, October 17, at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, of Mrs. Marjorie Ellen Gatland, aged 88, of 6 Vineyard Vale, Valley Road, Saundersfoot. Sadly missed by her family and friends.

The death occurred on Friday, October 17, of Mr. Albert Leslie John Edwards, of Rock Villa, Penally.
Mr. Edwards passed away at The Meadows Residential Nursing Home where he had been cared for since February.

KILGETTY
The funeral took place recently at Sardis Congregational Chapel, of Mr. William Edward James, of 7 St. Mary's Place, Kilgetty, who passed away at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on September 13. He was 95.
A native of Kilgetty, William spent his working life at Mountain Farm, Whitland Creamery and also working for Pembrokeshire County Council.
He loved farming, working at Little Kilvegy then Catershook until he was in his early 80s. William also loved gardening and watching sport, especially football and rugby.
Predeceased by his wife Freda in 1984 and his son Michael in 1994, he leaves to mourn his sister Irene, brother Reg, along with many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
The funeral service at Sardis Congregational Chapel, conducted by Rev. Hywel Brown, was followed by interment at the chapel cemetery.
Bearers were Graham Jenkins, Clive Nicholls, Kenny Badham and Stephen Watkins.

The death occurred on Thursday, October 16, of Mrs. Vida Driscoll, of Mayrhos, Sageston. She was 85.
Predeceased by her husband Jim Driscoll, she is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wollongong, Australia
It is with great sadness to report the death of Mrs. Phillipa Martha Hamblin, of Wollongong, Australia, on September 28.
Phillipa was the daughter of Robert and Phyllis Powell. Robert lived at Number 3 Coxhill Cottages, Narberth, before emigrating to Australia in the early 30s where he met Phyllis, his wife.
Phillipa loved visiting Wales, but had been unable to for the last few years due to her illness. Her son, Phillip has lovingly cared for her during this time.
She will be sadly missed by her Aunty Kitty Thomas, of Monkton, Tom and Edith Thomas and family, of Narberth, Mike, Anne Thomas and family, Narberth, Norma Lewis, Templeton, Marian Owen, Whitland, Elmore and Wilfred Richards and their families (cousins).

Tenby
The death occurred on Friday, October 17, peacefully at her home, of Mrs. Ann Morfydd Bancroft, aged 80 years, of Kemendine, Bridge Street, Tenby. She had borne a long illness with great fortitude.
Born in 1927 at Gyfelia Farm, Ruabon, nr. Wrexham, Ann was the second daughter of Victor and Margaret Dyke Dennis who also had a home at Park House, Tenby.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Dennis, by John and Susan, and Patrick and Hester (sons and daughters-in-law), by five grandchildren, Janine, David, Zoe, Jessica and Max, by Doreen Wigzell (sister) and by Henry and Vera Dyke Dennis (brother and sister-in-law).
Ann was an experienced nurse by profession and during her career nursed at various renowned hospitals including the Royal Orthopaedic, Oswestry, and the Radcliffe, Oxford.
She married Dennis in 1949 and turned her hand to assisting him in his family business, the local estate agents Frank B. Mason and Co, whilst also supporting him in his duties as hon. secretary of the RNLI Tenby branch.
After retirement in 1963, they settled in The Midlands where they established such a great fondness for the Inland Waterways that they then spent nearly 25 years living on the canals in their boat Sir Benfro, making many new friends in the process.
In the early 1990s, Ann and Dennis returned to Tenby and settled once again as part of the harbour community with whom they have always had such a great affinity.
Ann loved bowling and was a keen and active member of both Tenby and Pembroke Dock Bowling Clubs, and was much-respected amongst the Pembrokeshire bowling community.
The funeral service is today (Friday) at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 2.30 pm.

The funeral took place on October 7, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, of Mrs. Janice Kelly, of Restings, Kiln Park Road, Narberth, who passed away at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on October 1. She was 68.
A native of Tenby, Janice spent her working life as a hotelier and coach driver.
Predeceased by her son Scotty, she leaves to mourn her sons Adam and Julian, daughter-in-law Melrose and grandchildren Nicholas, Chelsea, Hannah and Sam.
The day after the funeral service took place , Janice was laid to rest with her son Scotty.

As reported previously, the death occurred of Cecil Raymond Lewis Cole peacefully at his home in Lamack Vale, Tenby, on October 11. He was 72-years-old.
The funeral took place on Saturday, October 18, at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, and was followed by a private burial at Brynsion Chapel, Llanmill, Narberth.
The service was conducted by the Rector, the Rev. Andrew Davies, assisted by the Rev. Michael John and the Rev. Mark Soady. The organist and choirmaster was Dr. John Harrison, the verger Mr. G. Rees and the cross bearer Mr. L. Rees. The 23 Psalm was read by Roger Cole.
The principal mourners were his wife Peggy, daughter Helen, son-in-law Kim, grandson Lewis and brother Roger.
The bearers were Messrs. Lewis Hudson (grandson), Kim Hudson (son-in-law), Peter Hopkins (friend and colleague), Steve Pope (friend and colleague), Trevor Cromack (brother-in-law) and Roger Cole (brother).

The death occurred at Bush Nursing Home, Pembroke Dock, on Sunday, October 5, of Mrs. Edith Bacon, known to all as Biddy.
Aged 91, she was formerly of Scandinavia Heights, Saundersfoot.
Predeceased by her husband Mac and grandson Sean, she is survived by her daughter Valerie, son-in-law Gary and grandchildren Gavin, Jackie and Joanne.
The funeral service takes place on Tuesday, November 4, with a service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 2.30 pm.
