Congratulations to Mrs. Norah Julia Adelaide Williams, who celebrated her 100th birthday in Tenby on Tuesday.
Mrs. Williams was born and brought up in Walton, Somerset, with her parents Frank and Lily Farrow, three brothers, two of whom have passed away in recent years, and a younger sister, who has lived in Adelaide, Southern Australia, since the mid 1960s.
In 1936, Mrs. Williams married David Dewar Williams, a long-standing employee of the then Texaco and Regent Oil Company. The couple made their home in Cardiff, where David worked as a sales representative covering Gwent, before moving to Talgarth, near Brecon, when he took over the Breconshire area.
They had two sons, Peter, who lives in Llantwit Major and works for the local town council, and Dafydd John, former general secretary of Plaid Cymru and now a press officer with the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff.
Following David's retirement from the company in 1965, the couple moved to Tenby, where Norah worked at Greenhill School and David carved out a new career as a highly regarded groundsman with the local bowling club. Their marriage lasted 56 years, until David's death in 1992.
Mrs. Williams has had a lifelong interest in gardening and certainly has the proverbial 'green fingers'.
Whilst a resident at Belmont Court in Tenby for the last six months, she has continued to be absorbed by the activities of her three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family were all there to help her enjoy and celebrate her special day.
