Young dancers in Greenhill School in Tenby recently limbering up to take part in a special charity show. Year 7 pupils taking part in the school's lunchtime 5x60 Street Dance Club practised twice a week for over two months to showcase their work. The show was part of the school's annual Charity Day, which took place last month. Organised by Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council, the 5x60 scheme aims to encourage more secondary school children to take part in extra- curricular activities while getting fit at the same time. The initiative encourages youngsters to take part in one hour of regular exercise five times a week. The Street Dance Club, led by dance coach, Annie Osborne, and Sport Pembrokeshire officer, Wyndham Williams, is one of six after-school clubs at Greenhill School. Others are martial arts, trampolining, badminton and boys and girls football clubs. LAURA JUMPS TO SUCCESS
Laura Elliot, of Year 11, is pictured on her horse Max during the recent Inter-School Championships at Stonar. This was a great achievement for Laura, and we believe she is the first student to represent Greenhill at this event. Laura enjoys all sports, but in particular the eventing - three phase. She competed with the Vale of Taf Pony Club team in the Great Britain Pony Club Championships in the showjumping event, where the team came seventh out of 49. Her ambitions are to develop her horse riding skills and progress through the championships; her immediate aim is to win in the events above. We wish Laura every success for the future. Her commitment to compete and her dedication and hard work illustrate her strength of character - qualities that will help her to achieve a career in the veterinary sciences.
