All-rounder Matthew Davies will be the new captain of Whitland Cricket Club in Division One of the Pembrokeshire League and will succeed Mark Lee, who decided to stand down at the end of the season.
Gwynne Phillips also stood down as Third team captain and will be replaced by Hefin Thomas, although the experienced Stuart Harris will continue as Second team captain in Division Two of the league.
The appointments were made at the club's annual general meeting, but there were no changes in officers at the helm where the following appointments were made:
President - Cyril Evans (father of County Club chairman Trefor Evans); chairman - Richard Merriman; secretary - Huw Davies; treasurer - Colin John; fixture secretary - David Lee; child welfare officer - Trefor Evans.
Club chairman Richard Merrriman, who works tirelessly through the year for Whitland sport, was made a life member, to popular acclaim.
In a moving response, Mr. Merriman said he regarded the award as a true honour.
