The Mayor of Tenby has said that she is delighted that the town council has attracted a new, young member as a councillor.

At their meeting on Tuesday night, councillors were asked to co-opt a new member, with two candidates applying for the recently advertised role.

Following a secret ballot among members, Hayden Johns, of Upper Hill Park, was given the position.

Born and bred in Tenby and a former pupils of St Teilos and Greenhill schools, Mr. Johns, who works as a chef locally, has represented the school and town in rugby, football and cross country.

"It's wonderful to have a young local family man, living and working in his home town, show an interest in the community and want to make a difference," said Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.

"Hopefully it will encourage more younger members to join the council in the future," she added, giving her thanks to both applicants for applying for the position.
