The Mini Market in New Hedges has recently been refurbished into a convenient one- stop shop by its new owners, Matt and Ruth Goldwait, with what used to be a Post Office/newsagents next door to a Londis, now being one shop.
The new design offers the consumer a more efficient way to shop, with the biggest advantage being the large forecourt car park, allowing customers speed and easy access to achieve their needs.
The Post Office has moved to a more visible situation and more floor space has been dedicated to the card and stationery area.
The shop has always been popular for cards, and with the increased allocation, a greater and more varied selection will be offered, alongside a large choice of gift wrap and hand-made papers. The stationery section carries all the requirements for students or business, while photocopying and laminating remain a useful service.
The Londis development team helped to re-design the food areas, but main architect was Matt Goldwait, himself, who greatly enjoys the redevelopment of his businesses!
The new refrigeration and added space has allowed the Mini Market to offer a greater variety in vegetables and fresh meats, and the flow of the shop enables a quicker purchase. The new laser scanning tills allow greater efficiency at the check-out and ease for the cashier.
The new image at the Mini Market has already had a positive effect. Customers are delighted with the ability to move amongst the previous entities in one shop, and yet still receive the friendly service of the old style.
The Mini Market has retained its village community feel, yet moved into a new era of convenience shopping. Customer service is still considered the number one priority.
THE POST OFFICE
The major refurbishments which have recently been completed at New Hedges Post Office and Mini Market have allowed owners, Matt and Ruth Goldwait, to create a modern business, yet retaining the relaxing atmosphere and charm of a true community village shop and Post Office.
The newly relocated Post Office offers a much heralded traditional feel alongside the latest in PO technology and security.
Recognising local requirements, particularly with the pedestrianisation of Tenby again this summer, the business caters for everyone, with easy access afforded by plenty of adjacent car parking, and with less able customers having easy wheelchair mobility.
The Post Office has been designed to offer customers plenty of space and privacy when conducting their personal business. This has been considered as the Post Office now offers many of the same facilities as most High Street banks.
As more and more products and services become available through the Post Office, including personal banking, loans, 'phone top-ups and foreign currency, it would seem that New Hedges is catering for the growing market of total convenience.
The staff at the New Hedges Post Office are all experienced, qualified counter assistants and pride themselves on providing a professional image. They are friendly, knowledgeable and love to see new and old faces.
Commenting on the changes, counter assistant Christine Kirkby said: "We all like the new working environment and are proud of our smart new image.
"Judging by our customers' comments, they all seem to appreciate the improvements too."
