A young Indian man met with the Church. Clasping (in his mind) on to his familiar Hindu god statues, as the Christians worshipped and prayed. He did not understand it one bit.
His sister was a Christian and prayed for him, asking him to read the Bible. Not keen on reading, he read a few verses a week.
He soon started to feel pain in his stomach; this prevented him from going out, including meeting with the Church. The doctors diagnosed kidney and gall stones and told him to drink beer! Not liking alcohol, he did not follow their instruction. The pain increased.
His sister, with some Christians, prayed for him. The following test was all clear, the young man was shocked!
Later two friends came to visit. They wanted to pray, but had no idea how, so they called his uncle, who was a believer, to pray over the phone.
Suddenly, the young man started to speak an unknown language. His uncle said this was what the Bible calls a gift of the Holy Spirit, when we do not have the words to say, God's Spirit can speak through us. This was a shock to the young man. His parents heard; afraid, they banned him going to church and reading the Bible saying, if he went he would have to leave!
This was very challenging, but he did not want to give up. His sister prayed; soon their parents said he could read the Bible at home; this again, was a great surprise.
Later he heard Jesus say that he will be moving around a lot, with no permanent home, away from family and friends.
For the last six months he has been visiting Pembrokeshire via a sponsor and he hoped to be financed by finding work here.
His Christian path is just beginning, with Jesus leading the way for him now. We are praying for him, and invite you to pray for him too.
We hope his story will be a blessing to all who read it.
