Tenby town council is set to welcome a new member to the chamber.

Tracey Evans a resident of Newell Hill was the only candidate that applied for the position following Mrs. Alex Rees’s recent resignation which left a vacant seat on the North Ward.

At their meeting on Tuesday night, councillors co-opted Mrs. Evans onto the council after reading her application.

Mrs. Evans has been a governor at Greenhill School for six years, and also a governor at Tenby Primary School for the last two years.

“I have a strong moral compass and a very level head whilst fully understanding the importance of confidentiality and discretion having previously worked as a legal secretary,” she explained in her application.

“I believe I would be an asset to Tenby town council fully embracing the role of town councillor,” she added.

Councillors said that they looked forward to welcoming Mrs. Evans to the chamber, although Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter did say that she was disappointed that there hadn’t been more local people putting their names forward for the role, who are happy just to sit back and criticise the town council.

“All these people that have something to say - when it comes to the crunch - they won’t put the names forward!” she remarked.

“Put you’re money where you mouth is and stand, like this lady has,” added Clr. Mrs. Rossiter.
