Tenby has been chosen to take part in an international competition, organised by a Canadian 'Communities in Bloom' group, which would involve winners from various national floral and environmental programmes.
Entrants would be evaluated by an international jury on the accomplishments of its community within eight key criteria - tidiness, environmental awareness, community involvement, natural and cultural heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscaped areas, floral displays, and turf and groundcovers, explained Tenby in Bloom chairman, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council.
"This is a wonderful chance to highlight our town. We all say we're proud of Tenby and this is a real chance to prove it by pulling together for this competition," said Clr. Mrs. Lane, who said that she would look to set up a committee for the project in the New Year.
"This would be a real community challenge and it would be great to see everyone get involved with it," she added.
