It's likely Tenby people saved a few lives with Saturday's coffee morning in Church House.

The event was so popular that extra tables and chairs had to be found and added in a hurry.

Tenby area's weekend walkers 'Steps to Health' arrived en masse.

They support many coffee mornings by calling in  - and thanks to their help and all the other callers, the local Christian Aid Committee raised nearly £200 at Saturday's event.

Joy Griffiths, of Tenby Christian Aid, said: "The amount raised was wonderful, especially in these credit crunch days. We're so grateful for this kind of support.

"The amount raised was excellent by any standards, and of course in Africa it goes an extremely long way. There's little doubt that some desperately poor families will have a much-needed lifeline," she added.
