THE owner of a legendary music shop in Tenby has been enlisted to help Simon Hart MP pick a winner for a nationwide music contest.
Laurie Dale, who has run the iconic Dales Music Shop on Tenby's High Street for 60 years, will be picking the category winners in the local leg of Rock the House 2013.
It's not too late for Pembrokeshire musicians to enter the competition which sees the winner get to play live at the House of Commons.
"We have already had a good number of entries - many more than other MPs, which makes me believe that Pembrokeshire has a thriving music scene," explained Mr. Hart.
"Although the official closing date for entries has passed, you can enter via the website using the online entry form called a Band App until March 20."
After that date, Mr. Dale will be listening to the downloaded tracks and picking winners in the best solo artist, best band, best solo artist under 19 years, best band under 19 years and best small live music venue categories.
"Mr. Dale is a legend in the local music scene and his shop is legendary - as he says, he's even seen off HMV!" said Mr Hart. "I'm delighted that he's agreed to help judge."
After local selections have been made, a judging panel made up of international music industry experts will choose the finalists, who will compete in a live battle of the bands.
The winner of each category will then perform live on the balcony of the House of Commons on June 26.
