A mother and her daughter were taken to hospital during the Bank Holiday weekend after both falling near Saundersfoot. Tenby Coastguard Rescue team, together with members of the Caldey and Manorbier teams, were called to the beach near Swallow Tree Gardens, at approximately 5.50 pm, following a report that a mother and her daughter had been injured. On their arrival, the teams found that the 62-year- old mother from Stone, Staffordshire, had fallen on the beach and had injured her shoulder. Her 32-year-old daughter, meanwhile, from Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, had tried to stop her mother falling, but slipped on the ground and fell also, sustaining a suspected fractured ankle. The mother was taken to an awaiting ambulance, while the daughter had to be carried on a stretcher by the coastguard team some considerable distance before she also was placed in an ambulance. Both were taken to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, for treatment.
