Saundersfoot is set to see more trees planted around the village, thanks to a legacy left by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Following the wishes of His Majesty The King, The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.
As a nationwide initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee, the Queen’s Green Canopy was introduced to create a living legacy with over a million trees planted in Her Majesty’s name across the nation.
In an update on the initiative for the seaside village, Saundersfoot's county councillor for the south ward, Cllr Chris Williams said: “All the hard work done on the village sports field by many volunteers resulted in me applying for 70 trees to mark the Queens Jubilee back in June.
“I’m pleased to announce that we’ve been successful and National Parks will be coming to Saundersfoot on March 7.
“There will be a mixture of Aspen, hedging plants and small Oaks. If anyone is available to help then please let me know,” he added.
