Sir, With reference to the unfortunate incident when a dog was run over and killed when in a collision with the horse drawn carriage, I find it hard to believe that council members are so interested in this isolated incident. Surely there are more pressing matters such as a serious dog fouling problem in the town which is a health hazard; dog owners taking dogs onto beaches in contravention of restrictions preventing them from doing so. Maybe the council should also be directing more time sorting out the poor standard of ground keeping in the parks and open areas around the town which reflects poorly on a holiday resort.
