Sir, On a recent rare visit during the season to the Croft Road end of the Norton, I was surprised to see that there is now only one wooden bench there, where previously there were two.

This is a favourite place to rest and take in the view of the harbour and Castle Hill, used by visitors and residents during the summer and mainly by residents in the winter.

I have always thought there should be three benches there to accommodate the many people who prefer to sit in a quieter area, and also to provide a resting point for people on the long walk to the Butts Field car park.

Soon we will have a big influx of ’golden age’ visitors, many of whom will be staying near the Croft Road end of the Norton or coming here on day trips, and they often congregate on the (usually) two benches provided there.

Surely, as a popular holiday destination, we could stretch to providing adequate seating at this viewing point.
