The 2013 Memorial Posy Festival entitled 'In Loving Memory' took place in St. Mary's Church, Tenby, from Thursday to Sunday, July 11 to 14 (writes B.M.).
Over 265 yellow and white memorial posies decorated the pews, with window arrangements and flower stands beautifully displayed throughout the church. Each floral arrangement was named and dedicated 'In Loving Memory' of family members and friends.
The flowers were arranged over three days by a dedicated and very happy group of volunteers, without whom the festival would not have been possible.
The posies have now been moved to St. Mary's Garden of Tranquility where they will remain until Monday.
During the festival we were delighted to welcome Tenby Infant School Choir who entertained with their summer songs. On Thursday evening, St. Mary's music department presented their 'Summer Concert', with music from St. Mary's Church Choir and Junior Choir, St. Mary's Tenby Handbell Ringers and a wonderful piano duet by Dr. John Harrison and Canon Andrew Davies.
On Saturday we were delighted to welcome the Ammanford Ladies Choir. Their lunchtime concert was appreciated by a large audience.
Sunday morning Eucharist celebrated both the festival and the annual meeting of the 'Friends of St. Mary's'. A fitting finalé on Sunday evening was an organ recital by Dr. John Harrison, musical director at St. Mary's.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the success of the festival.
All money raised during the festival will be donated to The Paul Sartori Foundation and Ty Hafan Children's Hospice.. A presentation will be arranged in August.
