A large gathering of family and friends turned out for the service of dedication of a memorial bench which has been sited in Manorbier in memory of Maria Sutton, who tragically died in a fire last year.

The bench was blessed by the Rev. Robin Webley from Saundersfoot. The scripture was read by Lee Marsden-Arthur in the absence of Maria's sister,  Anna, due to ill health.

Seen seated on the bench are Maria's four children, Jodie, Jaquiline, Daniel and Dillon.

The bench has been sited in the children's toddler play park overlooking the play equipment where Maria often used to sit chatting with neighbours and watching over the children of the estate.

During the service, the vicar thanked all those involved in the fund raising for the bench and in particular the community of Skrinkle and Pat Ormond, whose band played at a fund-raising party earlier in the year.

He went on to say what a fitting tribute the bench is (a dedication plaque is attached to it) and what a great asset it will be for the community, especially the children who use the park.

It will also be a fitting reminder of Maria and the part she played in the community and its children.

Maria's sister, Sharon, and her partner, ably assisted by her son Kyle, installed and will maintain the seat.
