Married on September 8 at St. Matthias Old Church, London, were Mr. Daniel Rolfe Hughes and Miss Victoria Jane Spencer.
The groom, a project manager for the National Health Trust, is the son of Norman and Judy Hughes, of Tenby, while the bride, who has just completed her MA in social epidemiology, is the eldest daughter of David and Monica Spencer, of Darlington.
The bride wore an original 1930 vintage style designer gown in pearl oyster silk satin which was made exclusively for her. She carried a spray of Calla lilies. The bridesmaid was Kit Cooper, friend of the bride.
The humanist ceremony, which Dan and Vicki had written themselves, was conducted with dignity and aplomb by a very good friend of the couple, Mr. John Warnaby, while the duties of best man and usher were carried out in impeccable style by Merryn Owen and the bride's brother Phil Spencer, who also performed a musical interlude.
Music for the ceremony was played by Christina Hotsko. Special thanks must go to Jo Dunk who organised the day with flair and verve.
The couple, who left for a honeymoon in Paris and Ibiza, will be returning to London and are due shortly to take delivery of a Dutch barge houseboat which will become their home.
