TWO Tenby women are getting ready to run the race of their lives on April 13 when they participate in the Flora London marathon.
As they run the gruelling race, Jennie McIntosh and Tanis Hand will be looking forward to a unique package of post-race pampering in return for raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Jennie and Tanis, who have signed up to raise money for the RNLI, will be treated to a post-race reception where, in addition to food and drink, they will receive a well deserved sports massage. A room will also be provided where they can relax and meet up with their family.
Runners who have signed-up to raise funds for the RNLI are not just cared for on the day - they will also receive a free pack containing expert advice to enable them to build up an effective and varied training programme. All RNLI runners will also be given a free vest for the event.
Runners in the London marathon are not the only ones who can benefit from this pamper package. The RNLI is also offering the same facilities for people who would like to raise money by running for them in the Lake Vyrnwy marathon in June, the Wolverhampton marathon and half marathon and the Cardiff marathon in September as well as the Snowdonia marathon at the end of October.
"At the RNLI we're used to training people to be their best at all times, so whether your goal is just to finish the race or to beat your personal best, we'll ensure you've got what it takes to succeed," said Tamsin Davies, events organiser for the RNLI in Wales, "and because each runner will be raising money for the lifeboats, they will also be helping us save lives at sea."
