Four brave souls took up the David v Goliath, Man v Food Challenge at the Mews Surf Bar and Grill in Tenby.
The challenge was to eat either: the Steakasaurus - a 72oz rump steak; the Ultimate Burger - 64ozs of steak mince in burger form; or the Spicy Wing challenge - six rounds of six spicy hot chicken wings
Three mad meat-eaters took on the 72oz steak and only one chose the Ultimate Burger.
Dave Douglas-Law (restaurant owner) cooked up the mammoth meals and started the clock. The contestants had only one hour to devour their meals, each served up with chips and monster sides.
The meat was cooked to perfection and as Dave finished explaining the rules, the four diners began their challenge. They all made a valiant start and maintained pace well into the meals, However, time was against them and the contestants all found the going tough.
Eventually there was only one winner, for once David was beaten and the Goliath meals overcame the courageous contestants. If they had completed the challenge, their prize would have been the price of the meal and the knowledge that they had beaten the Mews Challenge.
An enjoyable evening was had by all, contestants and their supporters, even though some bit off more than they could chew.
Dave hopes to include the challenge in the Mews regular menu in future, but you will need to book it in advance.
