With Christmas fast approaching, the battle for league supremacy is warming up; this being the time of year when final league standings begin to take shape.
If this is the case, then Carew will be facing a gruelling battle for Division One survival come the second half of the campaign, especially so considering they lost 9-2 at home against Clarbeston Road.
After losing narrowly a couple of weeks ago to last year's champions, Merlins Bridge, Carew would have been confident of gaining their first win of the season against a team that plied its trade in Division Two last season, but the opposite was true as Clarbie put them to the sword.
Despite a goal apiece from Wayne Cannon and Richard Bullock, the search for a first win continues as the visitors ran riot, despite a good effort by the home team.
If Carew's campaign looks grim, one team that could possibly take their place in the first division should they be relegated is Saundersfoot Sports. They may not be in pole position in the second division yet after Saturday's 4-1 away win at Angle, the result puts them in fourth position, equal on points with Tenby and just three away from second placed Prendergast Villa, who they drew with last week.
In a match sponsored by CPR Plastering services, the Sports managed to smooth over any cracks from that performance with a more polished display at one of Pembrokeshire's footballing outposts.
"It wasn't a particularly great game," admitted player manager Danny Caine. "But we did well to win it with a decent performance."
Caine was in inspirational form after sealing the win with a brace, while Sam Reeves scored his first and second goal of the season, the result of which means the entire first team squad has netted the ball home this season.
Tenby's march for league honours continues as they travelled to Milford Athletic and managed a 1-0 win. While this may not have been as convincing as some may have predicted, Phil Catlin's strike secured the points and, considering they have games in hand on their nearest rivals for the title, they head into the Christmas break in fine form.
Manorbier United, meanwhile, have their work cut out to stay above the relegation zone after they lost 4-1 away at Pembroke Boro. Despite a fine goal by James Hall, United were barely in it as Boro took control.
In Division Three, St. Florence lost 4-2 away at Hubberston, despite goals from Josh Hawkins and Jason Nicholas, while Narberth Seconds won 6-4 at home in a game of titanic proportions against Monkton Swifts.
Hero of the day for the Bluebirds was Tom Richards, who finished the game with a hat-trick, which was more remarkable considering he would have been playing rugby had his game not been called off. Tony Evans chipped in with two great goals of his own, with Morgan Preece sealing the win in the second half.
St. Clears continue to demolish all before them as they travelled to Solva and came away with a 6-1 win. Eddie Wiggins's amazing scoring run continues as he completed a hat-trick, meaning he has now scored in 10 consecutive games. Steve Trivet was also in inspired form as he slammed in two brilliant goals, with Sam Thomas also getting his name on the scoresheet as he opened the account early in the first half.
Pendine Seconds are out of the Division Five Cup after they lost their second leg match against Hundleton, although they came back well from a first half mauling to lose 5-4.
Considering they were 4-0 down at the break, the comeback will have boosted their confidence for the remainder of the season as Julian Blewitt and Joe Booth both finished with two goals apiece.
Meanwhile, back in league action, Lawrenny travelled to Fishguard Sports and won 1-0, John Beff grabbing the goal there, while St. Clears' second team defeated Haverfordwest Cricket Club 4-2 at home, as Simon Bancroft found the net twice alongside Guy Nicholas and Andrew Walters.
