Lawrenny may have travelled to Lamphey in the league a week last Saturday and ended up with a win, yet their trip in the Senior Cup resulted in defeat as they bombed out of the preliminary rounds having lost 8-3.
For the neutral observers watching from the sidelines, this was an entertaining game to watch, with 11 goals scored in total and the visitors staging a comeback of sorts just before half-time when they scored two goals in succession to make it 4-3 at the break.
Any hopes of winning the game were dashed, however, as Lamphey controlled the second half, despite the visitors having a goal disallowed. For the record, Lawrenny's goals were scored by John Jolly, James Brown and Sam Davies.
Elsewhere in the round, St. Florence's participation in this year's cup came to an abrupt end after they lost 4-2 at home to Hundleton. The home side may have scored through Jamie Roberts and Colin Batley, but this wasn't enough against an efficient side that was just too strong on the day.
Back to league action and Kilgetty lost their second game in succession, despite having home advantage against Clarbeston Road as they finally went down 3-2. This match always promised to be close and so it proved as the match ebbed and flowed like the tide. Sadly, despite playing attractive football, Kilgetty couldn't find the back of the net to close the game down, despite scores from Nick Cope and Adam John.
Narberth were another side to lose out at home after they lost 4-1 against Herbrandston. The only highlight in an otherwise dreary performance was a goal by Ashley Williams that gave the Bluebirds some hope, but Herbie were well on top throughout. Meanwhile, Carew remain rooted to the bottom of the table, having lost 2-0 away at Neyland.
In Division Two, Tenby's march for promotion honours continues as they travelled to bottom-placed Angle and came away with a 7-0 win. Tenby have recruited well during the off-season and, despite an early blip, their results thus far have proved promising. They are third at present, equal on points with second-placed Prendergast Villa.
Sam Christopher got the ball rolling with the first of his two in this match sponsored by Jean and Terry Elkin, while Tom Merion also grabbed a brace and Callum Proctor, Paddy Mckeown and James Buckle all got in on the act.
Saundersfoot's good form continued as they, too, gained an away win after beating Fishguard Sports 3-1. Stuart Bell was the star with a well-taken brace, while Daniel Caine scored for the second week in succession.
Not such good news for Manorbier United, though, after they lost 3-1 at home against Milford Athletic, while Pendine also finished pointless following their 5-1 defeat at home against Camrose.
In Division Three, a David Howitt goal enabled Narberth Seconds to draw 1-1 with Hakin United, while division leaders St. Clears dropped their first points of the season after they, too, drew at home following a 2-2 result against Broad Haven.
Eddie Wiggins was at it again for the Saints, scoring their fist goal, with Jason Baxter claiming the second.
In Division Four, Carew Seconds drew 0-0 at home against their counterparts from Johnston, while Kilgetty's second string lost 4-2 away at Milford United's reserves; Matthew Smith and Richard Cope scoring for the visitors at Marble Hall.
Meanwhile, Saundersfoot's second string had a whopping 7-0 win to their name following a fine performance at home against Neyland. James Morgan starred with a hat-trick, with Grant Hardy grabbing a brace and other goals coming from Paul Thomas and Nicky Allen.
Finally, in Division Five, Pendine Seconds lost heavily for the second week in succession after coming away from Hundleton with a 10-1 defeat to their name, the only highlight being a goal by Dwayne Reynolds.
A brace of goals by Mo Saffin and Beau Pryor enabled Tenby Seconds to win 4-1 at home against St. Clears, while a Jonathan Best goal allowed Lawrenny to win 1-0 at home against Fishguard Sports.
