Tenby Sea Cadets, Tenby and District Gateway Club, Tenby Animal Rescue Centre and Pembrokeshire Counselling Services received a welcome boost from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation this week following their appeal for members of the public to nominate local good causes to share in its special charity donation.
Yorkshire Building Society's unique 'Small Change, Big Difference' scheme, where customers donate their pence interest from their savings and mortgage accounts to the society's Charitable Foundation generated over £34,000 in the past year, with over 100,000 members signed up so far.
The Yorkshire is keen to ensure this money is given to local organisations and therefore held a Community Day across the country. The day was a huge success, with over 150 donations to be made.
Mrs. Jan Haddleton, manager of the Tenby branch, said: "We are delighted that we have been able to help these charities who play a vital role in our local community.
"We would like to thank everyone who took the time to make a nomination and hope that our contribution will make a difference."
Yorkshire Building Society is the third biggest society, with 130 branches throughout the UK. The Charitable Foundation is the focal point for the society's charitable giving and has helped over 500 charities and good causes with donations totalling more than half-a-million pounds in the last three years.
