Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions Club recently held their annual charter and handover night to celebrate 27 years continued service in the community.

Representatives from Tenby Round Table, Tenby Rotary and Soroptimists Clubs, together with the then Tenby Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas, joined with members of Lions clubs from Ammanford, Fishguard, Pembroke, Haverfordwest and St. Davids and all their guests, to enjoy the Tenby club's big night at the club HQ, the Giltar Hotel in Tenby.

All enjoyed a superb dinner and partied well into the early hours, with some making it upstairs for breakfast.

Outgoing president Patrick Crockford thanked everyone for the tremendous support locally for all the club fund-raising events, including the club members for all their hard work and dedication.

He talked enthusiastically on the various charities and individuals, both locally and nationally, the club had been able to support and hoped it would continue in the future for incoming president Keith Nixon, who received the chain of office and who looked forward to the year ahead with relish.

Lions past district governor Ken Mathews thanked the club for its dedication, hard work and said he always looked forward to his visits here, for the friendship and hospitality, and added that he would always be available to help in any way he could.

Mayor, Clr. Caroline Thomas, thanked the club for the hard work and enthusiasm it puts into its work in the community.

Lion of the Year award was presented to Bob Turnbull for all his sterling work over the years for the club.

The club's next event is their annual Paella Festival at Tenby Harbour on Sunday, July 25, from 2 until 10 pm, when members look forward to seeing as many supporters as possible for this popular event.
