The owner of a local limousine company has thanked the emergency services for their prompt reponse to what he described as a 'freak accident' involving his wife who was driving one of the company's vehicles.

Edna Williams was driving Tenby-based Yes Limos' Chrysler 300 through Pentlepoir on Sunday afternoon when she aquaplaned across the A478 and crashed into the garden wall of a property next to the village's Murco garage.

Miraculously, Edna, who was returning from exhibiting the vehicle at the County Wedding Fair in Haverfordwest, escaped unhurt from the accident, which occurred at 4.15 pm.

Her husband Stephen, who had also been at the exhibition and was ahead of her returning home in one of their stretch limos, said the accident had occurred because of 'icy conditions as a result of a hail storm minutes before'.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the ambulance, fire and police services who attended the accident," he told the Observer this week.

"Despite the dramatic images of the accident, Edna, was unhurt and due to the high quality of the car, even the champagne glasses in the back were unbroken."

This car is now in the process of being replaced to fulfil forthcoming bookings.

Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Williams were due to visit the owner of the house, 91-year-old Mr. Richard Pearson, on Wednesday and give him flowers as an apology for the accident.
