It's been a case of lift-off again for the construction work at the state-of-the-art Tenby Cottage Ward at Park House Court this week. And quite literally too! As reported in the Observer last week, work at the multi-million pound development has been almost on hold recently due to the horrendous floods in The Midlands. Having been ahead of schedule throughout the building process, staff at GKV Developments and Chalcroft Construction Ltd. were shocked to find that floods in Northamptonshire would cause a hold-up during the crucial last weeks before the planned handover. A specially-designed stretcher lift had been crated and was ready for delivery, but the roads surrounding the factory had been impassable due to the flood water, holding up work locally for 10 days. Safe access to the factory was finally allowed last week and the lift was duly transported to Tenby where it has been fitted this week. Providing the work schedule goes to plan, it is hoped that the hospital will be opening its doors to patients in early August. A brand new concept in health-care, the innovative project is a collaboration between the NHS and the independent sector and will show how community services can be updated and yet remain in the locality they were originally designed for.
