Saundersfoot RNLI committee's annual house to house collection took place from July 29 until August 3, and their annual flag day was on Saturday the 3rd.

A total of £683.16 was collected by the following members: Lynda Bingham, Helen Baggott, Gerry Brutnell, Pauline Hunting, Monica McDowell, Pam Mortimer, Pam Roberts, Liz Tallboys and Sam Turner.

This gave a grand total of £1,715.69.

Goods totalling £460 were also sold on the harbour stalls during Lifeboat Week.

The visit of the Tenby lifeboat into Saundersfoot Harbour when it comes on its annual goodwill visit always attracts a lot of interest. The arranged visit on Sunday, August 4, had to be cancelled due to bad weather, but everyone was delighted to have this visit rearranged for the following Tuesday evening and the crowds who gathered were not disappointed, amongst whom it was pleasing to welcome members of the Wisemans Bridge Longboat Rowing Club, who had brought along a cheque for the RNLI of £430 (see picture right), this being funds raised by them during their challenging row around the Pembrokeshire coast.

The treasurer, Pauline Hunting, would like to thank all those who collected, Pam and her helpers, who manned the stalls, and John and Jackie, who were in the counting house.

Many thanks go to the Harbour Commissioners and the harbour manager for their permission to collect on the harbour and to use the harbourmaster's office on the 3rd.

The branch is extremely grateful for the generosity of the local people of Saundersfoot, Wisemans Bridge, Amroth and the surrounding areas and all the holidaymakers who so willingly gave to make this fundraising effort so successful.

The next meeting will be on Monday, September 2, in the Sports and Social Club at 11 am, and new members are always welcome.

The next major fundraising event, meanwhile, will be a Buddy Holly Tribute act to be held at the RAOB Club, Kilgetty, on October 18, tickets for which will be available at Bumper to Bumper, Kilgetty, the RAOB Club and any RNLI committee member. Please watch the local press for more details nearer the date.
