Tenby's RNLI crew were among the rescue teams involved in a search for two fishermen who were reported missing in the sea off Burry Port after their 14-foot boat capsized on Monday evening. One person was pulled from the water by another vessel after he was heard shouting for help. He informed the crew of the vessel that another two persons were in the water. Swansea Coastguard immediately launched the Tenby Tamar, Burry Port ILB, Loughor IRB and Ferryside IRB, along with Rescue Helicopter 169 from Chivenor, to perform a sea search, while coastguard teams searched the shoreline. The two anglers were found two-and-a-half hours after the first emergency call was made at around 8.30 pm. They were taken ashore to Burry Port Harbour, but were sadly pronounced dead at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen. They are believed to be from Swansea. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch has launched a preliminary investigation into the accident.
