The Cancer Research UK shop at Tudor Square, Tenby, recently launched its new book department. This has proven so successful that shop manager Julia King Thomas and her volunteer team have become victims of their own success.

Julia said: "We are obviously a very well-read lot in Tenby as customers are always asking if we've had any new books in! Sometimes we are barely able to get books out on the shelves before they're snapped up by an avid reader!

"Many people only read their books once and then they sit around on shelves or in cupboards - forgotten and collecting dust - and these books are being added to all the time. Eventually, space on your bookshelves becomes an 'epic' problem!

"Cancer Research UK can put these books to good use. Each one we sell raises money and brings us one step closer to our goal of curing cancer faster.

"If you would like to help our cause in this way, please bring along your unwanted books - from travel tomes to Terry Pratchett, 'chick lit' to Charles Dickens."

Cancer Research UK is the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world. They fund over 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses based throughout the UK. Their total annual research spend is £176m.
