During the last couple of years Girlguiding in the Lower Landsker District has gone from strength to strength with numbers of girls in the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides growing all the time.

Sadly, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find adults to take on the leadership roles. The Rainbows in Tenby are currently leaderless and the Guides are only able to continue with the help of a parent rota. There is a similar situation in Saundersfoot, with two units only able to exist if parents help each week.

Becoming an adult leader in Girlguiding can be a very rewarding and uplifting experience. The skills you put to use are recognised by many employers and are a worthy part of any CV. All leaders have access to many kinds of training courses and qualifications and there are always opportunities to travel abroad as representatives of Girlguiding.

The Girlguiders in Lower Landsker meet together regularly to share their ideas and experiences and to discuss ways of taking their units forward. New leaders have come into the area, but many are lost as universities beckon. There must be hundreds of ex Brownies and Guides in Tenby, Saundersfoot and Narberth who can remember camping and cooking with the Guides, Brownie pack holidays, excursions to the beach and the many other wonderful places in Pembrokeshire and beyond. Perhaps some of them now have the time to 'give something back' to the association. Why not give the District Commissioner a call to find out more. Please phone Helen on 07813 469305.
