TENBY UNITED 22 GORSEINON 23

In a thrilling match at Heywood Lane, the Seasiders threw away the points in the dying moments, for the second successive match running. In a match that the home side were winning 22-8 at half-time, Gorseinon pulled off a terrific comeback to snatch a victory that sees them top the Division Three West table. Tenby started the match well, with the opening try scored by fly-half Scott McLaughlin, who also added the conversion. The away side then hit back with a penalty from centre Andrew Burder, followed by a try from number eight Brian Thomas. Having been stung by this, the United responded with some fine attacking rugby finished off by a try from winger Dan Shooter. And with Neil Powling kicking a penalty and Andrew Davies's try being converted by McLaughlin, the Seasiders went into the break with a convincing lead. The visitors clearly came out in the second half with a point to prove, with winger Rhys Heath grabbing his side's second try of the match. Next to reduce the deficit was flanker Richard Jones, who crashed over for a try, which Burder converted, leaving Gorseinon needing just a penalty kick to grab full points. Then in the dying seconds, the Seasiders gave away the penalty that saw the match snatched away from them by Burder's cool kick.
