Crymych Under 15s 1 Tenby Under 15s 1

On Saturday, February 24, Tenby Ladies Under 15 hockey team travelled to Haverfordwest to play Crymych in the Pembrokeshire Under 15s League. The last time the two teams met there was a 10-0 emphatic victory for Crymych, but this time it was a different story. The game started with lots of attacks on goal from Crymych, but they were prevented from scoring by great defending from the back line of Kezia, Josie and Grace. Tenby hit back with some pressure of their own and strikes by the forwards, Liz, Cath and Anna were foiled by the Crymych defence. Midfield players Mollie, Georgia Lewis, Georgia Thomas and Martha worked tirelessly throughout the first half and outstanding Tenby goalkeeper, Jo, had to make some great saves to keep the score 0-0 at half- time. In the first minute of the second half, Crymych capitalised on their earlier pressure and scored. However, Tenby showed their metal and worked the ball through the midfield, with Hannah Lloyd and Becky Brace putting in some high quality passes to the forwards. Tenby's perseverance paid off with a goal from captain Cath. The result at the end of the match was 1-1, which showed just how far this young Tenby side has come from the start of the season. Tenby Under 15s 2 Pembroke Under 15s 0

On Thursday, March 1, Tenby Under 15s recorded their first victory since the team was formed at the start of the season. It was St. David's Day and the match was played on the new Tenby astroturf, so the conditions were perfect! In the first half, Tenby showed the confidence that had been gained from their previous few matches, which had resulted in draws. They wanted a win and it showed. Tenby defender, Molly, demonstrated Tenby's determination with some incisive runs from the back of defence, with Josie and Grace showing how solid they have become in defence. Martha, Hannah, Anna, Becky and Georgia fought for every ball in midfield, but it was Georgia Lewis, who, despite a back injury, scored for Tenby to make it 1-0 at half-time. Tenby seemed to take their foot off the pedal in the second half to enable Pembroke to come back. However, Georgia Lewis made a great run down the wing to cross for Liz, who tipped the ball into the top of the goal to make it 2-0 to Tenby. Despite some valiant efforts from Pembroke, the result remained the same and Tenby went away with the points. Congratulations to all the team, including the subs, who are always valued as part of the team. Well done girls!
