Sir,

It becomes more obvious that Tenby has no permanent residents. It must be a camping site for owners of holiday homes/flats with no concern about the town itself.

More worrying is the fact that there are no people at all interested in what is supposed to be the town's future - tourism!

Some time ago I wrote to the Observer to suggest that the town required a 10-year plan. It is very obvious that creation and inspiration has died! Your photograph and its query 'spruce-up' for Tenby "gateway" was a lead balloon. The reaction from the council was that of 'interest' as long as someone else's money financed it. Far better to spend little and use recycled and second-hand fencing to create a new Eden.

Another facet that tells the truth about the town is the state of Castle Hill and the 'beauty of another Eden' through lack of investment in the maintenance and cleanliness of a wonderful site.

In a recent letter, I decried the proposals about a new wonderful development in White Lion Street. I suggested that the building line should equate to the front face of the present cinema. Would that someone had bothered to see the space between that line and the present road, had looked at the old photographs of the De Valence Gardens and visualised a similar strip extended to the Norton.

Bring back some of the old glazed shelters of the De Valence era where at least the town will have some shelter for the walkers and tourists. The town is already dead for large periods of the year. Is it the intention to kill it off completely?
