This quarter-final cup encounter meant a third game between the two teams already this season. The spoils had been shared in the first two games, and with the results going the way of the home team on both occasions, Kilgetty were hoping this trend would continue.

But from the start it was Clarby Road who took the initiative and ran the game for the first 10 minutes. Fortunately, they did not create too many goal scoring chances, but it was as Kilgetty were coming back into the game that Clarby took the lead with a shot that found its way between two defenders and into the corner of the net.

This sparked Kilgetty into life and they now started to dominate the play. Chances were few and far between, though, and it took a good move down the left, with Dan Lynch and Curtis Harris combining well, to carve open the Clarby defence and set up Ben Howells to slam in the equaliser to take the teams in level at half-time, and all to play for in the second half.

The start of the second half was almost a carbon copy of the first, with Clarby again having the better of the opening stages, but unable to add to their score.

It was as Kilgetty were starting to dictate the play that Clarby regained the lead. When a Kilgetty corner was cleared, it caught the home defence on the halfway line and the Clarby striker raced through to put them back in the lead.

Kilgetty made a couple of substitutions at this point, bringing on Ben Cole at the back and Luke Gregory up front.

Kilgetty pressed for the equaliser and after a good through ball by Mike Smith to Dan Lynch, he unleashed an unstoppable shot past the 'keeper and in off the underside of the bar.

Kilgetty now had one of their best spells of the match and were playing some great passing football. It was no surprise when they took the lead for the first time, when following a sustained spell of pressure, Karl Thomas (who has really found his scoring boots this year) slotted their third goal.

Next it was team captain Johnny Wilson getting his first goal of the season with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box. This put the result beyond Clarby Road and, although Kilgetty dominated the rest of the game, they could not add to their goal tally, but still celebrated reaching the semi-final.

Kilgetty fielded: Adam Hughes, Johnny Wilson (capt.), Jason Jones, Michael Smith, Gareth Merriman, Karl Thomas, Robbie Brookes, Paul Woods, Dan Lynch, Ben Howells, Curtis Harris, Ben Cole, Luke Gregory.
