The links course of Tenby was the venue for this month's competition. For this time of the year, the course was in very good condition; the rough too was more forgiving! A cool easterly breeze was a pleasant change from the usual brisk south-westerly.
A warm welcome went to newcomer, Tony 'Theodolite' Mathias, Simon 'Gas Bottle' Wood made a rare appearance, nearly enough Woods to make a forest!
Six teams of three set off as follows:
1. Martin 'Del Boy' Davies, Trevor 'Santa' Lewis and John 'Georgie' Hargraves.
2. Steve 'Eleanor' Rigby, Bob 'Ex-Cartwheel' Simpson and Wyn 'Lob-wedge' Hopkins.
3. Steve 'Micklethwaite' Kennings, Mark 'Woody' Wood and Darrell 'Ex-Rods' Jones.
4. Tony 'Theodolite' Mathias, John 'Scribe' James and Simon 'Gas Bottle' Wood.
5. Frank 'Meidrim' Simmons, Richard 'Wilson' Davies and Barry 'Chippy' Wood.
6. Tim 'Gavel' Davies, Allan 'B and B' Haggarty and Alan 'Sailor' Taylor.
Despite the good conditions, scoring was unusually low, a few players worrying about the wooden spoon.
In first place with 33 pts - John 'Scribe' James, another handicap drop! Second with 32 pts, Mark 'Woody' Wood and in third place, Tony 'Theodolite' Mathias, a good start Tony (30 pts).
Longest drive - into the wind, was won by Steve 'Micklethwaite' Kennings. Nearest the pin went to Barry 'Chippy' Wood.
Twenty-plus handicap winner was Bob 'Ex-Cartwheel' Simpson with 22 pts. Once again the OAP prize went to Chippy Wood.
The third Wood, Simon, also made the prize list - the wooden spoon. We will keep his score secret!
Team prize was won by Steve 'Micklethwaite' Kennings, Mark 'Woody' Wood and Darrell 'Ex-Rods' Jones.
Twos winners, Darrell and Steve 'M' Kennings.
Many thanks to Mark Wood, of the Angel Hotel in Narberth, for sponsoring all of the prizes for this month.
We look forward to seeing you on January 14 - venue to be advised.
